WW2/1950s RAF 2ND PATTERN C-TYPE FLYING HELMET. A good used 2nd pattern C-type flying helmet, as used and worn by RAF, USAAF, and Commonwealth aircrew during WW2.

The helmet is in good used condition, with the leather retaining good color and chroming, still soft and supple. There are no splits, cracks, or holes we can see, in pretty good condition for its age. There does, however, appear to be two repairs or patches to the rear of the helmet, not immediately noticeable, but they are there, and we have reflected this in the price. They do not, however, detract from the helmet at all, which still displays very nicely. The helmet has 4 straps to the rear, and the goggle strap buckle is in place, all in good condition. To the front of the helmet again, all press studs and the in-built mask hook are present and in good condition. The chinstrap retains a good elasticity and is not stretched or damaged. As we can see, the press stud is again in place, and it is undamaged. The helmet is fully wired with an internal wiring loom, all in excellent condition. Both rubber earcups are in good condition, the helmet is fitted with a good pair of helmet receivers, again with no damage or issues to report. Both are marked with the store's reference number 10A/13466.

Inside, we find a lightly used and soiled chamois interior, exhibiting no major damage we can see, bar anotehr patch, again mostly likely related to the exterior patches, once again it does not really detract. Both chamois ear donuts are in good condition, too. Stamped on the exterior, with the store's reference number 22C/880 and broad arrow, indicating it's a size 4, the largest made. We estimate the size to be approximately a size 57-58 UK hat size, so a large.

Overall, a nice used flying helmet, ideal for display with some goggles and a mask! Befitting of any RAF museum, collection, or display.
