WW2 RAF - Tunic & logbook grouping - Flt/Lt G.A. Archer - Navigator. A nice late-war grouping for Flight Lieutenant George Alexander Archer, who was a navigator/wireless operator on Beaufighter aircraft right at the end of the war, flying in the Mediterranean theatre. The grouping consists of Archer's original tunic, 2 logbooks with sparse entries, a large group of original photos, including several framed, as well as his pay book, flying equipment card, sight log book, training booklets, and passes.
The tunic is a lovely example, and you can exactly match up the Navigator's brevet on the tunic to the one he's wearing in the framed photo! It's an exact match, which is lovely to see. No damage or issues we can see with the tunic; it's really in rather nice condition! And displays well with the rest of the grouping.
The 2 logbooks, as mentioned, have few entries, but do record some of his training on Ansons and Oxfords, before moving onto the Beaufighter aircraft in March 1945. He's with No. 3 Squadron, probably in a training capacity, before joining 252 Squadron in June of that year. In one of the logbooks is his Air Navigator's certificate.
Overall, a good late-war logbook and tunic grouping of a brave young airman. Worthy of further research and a proper display. Ideal for any RAF collection, museum, or display.
