WW2 RAF 2ND PATTERN C-TYPE FLYING HELMET. A good used 2nd pattern C-type flying helmet, as used and worn by RAF, USAAF, and Commonwealth aircrew during WW2.
The helmet is in good used condition, with the leather retaining good colour and chroming, still soft and supple. There are no splits, cracks, or holes we can see, in pretty good condition for its age. The helmet has 4 straps to the rear, and the goggle strap buckle is in place, all in good condition. To the front of the helmet again, all press studs and the in-built mask hook are present and in good condition. The chinstrap retains good elasticity and is not stretched or damaged. As we can see, the press stud is again in place, and it is undamaged. The helmet is fully wired with an internal wiring loom, all in excellent condition. Both rubber earcups are in good condition, and the helmet is fitted with a good pair of helmet receivers, again with no damage or issues to report. Both are marked with an A.M. crown mark.
Inside, we find a lightly used and soiled chamois interior, exhibiting no damage we can see. Both chamois ear doughnuts are in good condition, too. Stamped on the exterior, with the store's reference number 22C/879, indicating it's a size 3. We estimate the size to be approximately a size 56-57 UK hat size, so a medium.
Overall, a nice used flying helmet, ideal for display with some goggles and a mask! Befitting of any RAF museum, collection, or display.
