WW2 RAF EARLY IRVIN SHEEPSKIN FLYING JACKET - BATTLE OF BRITAIN PERIOD. A nice, used example of an early WWII 2-panel back Irvin flying jacket, as used by nearly all RAF airmen during WW2.
A good used example; it has some wear, but no major damage; there are a couple of repaired sections. We have photographed these areas as best we can, so please do check them out. There is a stitched repair to the right shoulder, and then down at the left side of the zip near the waistband. So please check them out; we'd probably recommend not wearing this example, but definitely still great for display in a collection, or on a mannequin, etc.
All zips are in good working order, running freely without issue. The sheepskin itself shows some wear, still retaining a lovely dark brown finish. With the aforementioned repairs.
The collar is again in good condition, with the closing strap and buckle still in place. However, inside, it does look like the seam may be starting to open up. The waist buckle and strap are again in good condition, with no issues to report. There is some fur loss to the cuffs and bottom hem, again, not uncommon to see in wartime jackets of this period. with one small hole on the right sleeve, again as photographed.
Inside, the sheepskin fur is again in good used condition, with no losses to the fur we can see. The jacket is unfortunately missing its original label. We have taken the following measurements in inches to help with sizing.

Shoulder to shoulder 19"
Chest pit to pit 22"
Waist 21"
Shoulder to cuff 24.5"
Neck to hem 23.5"
Overall, a good original early-war Irvin jacket. It does display very well on a mannequin, it must be said, and looks to be a good medium/large size. Ideal for any RAF display, collection, or museum.
