WW2 RAF OFFICERS SD PEAKED CAP - Named "ALLEN". A nice, used original WW2 RAF officers' service dress peaked cap, a lovely cap that displays very well indeed.
The cap is in good used condition. We can see a very minor area of moth damage just on the brim of the peak. Otherwise, the blue material is in good condition, with light soiling from wear and use. The cap has a lovely gilt metal RAF officers' cap badge, which still retains good, vibrant colour. The strap is also in good condition, with some light crazing to the black finish. Both strap buttons are also in place, with cloth covering. Inside, we find the cap with some wear commensurate with age, and the sweatband in good, worn condition. Underneath the sweatband, we find it's named; we believe it says "ALLEN", but it could differ, also with a service number, which we believe is 52212.
The cap is sadly not maker kmarked, it looks like there was once a diamond-shaped lozenge on the cap, which is now absent. Size-wise, we estimate this to be approximately a size 56 UK hat size. Overall, a lovely original cap that would display very well, ideal for any RAF collection, display, or museum.
