WW2 RAF/WAAF - Jacket Serge, W.A.A.F. - Sz9 - Dated 1942.
A nice, used, original WW2 period WAAF other ranks serge jacket. Sadly, it does have some minor moth damage, so please see the photos for this. Most noticeably on the shoulders. If you want an example for display or a mannequin, this would do great; otherwise, it's not a mint example of a WAAF jacket. Some stitching is also coming adrift on the waistbelt; once again, please see the photos.
On the positive, the jacket is complete with original insignia and buttons all in place. Inside, we find the jacket still has its original label, detailing it as a "Jacket Serge, W.A.A.F." and marked as a size 9, with rough measurements below. Also with a War Department ink stamp inside one of the sleeves.
We have taken the following measurements off the jacket, all in inches:
Chest 17.5" across
Waist 14" across
Shoulder to cuff 23.5"
Shoulder to shoulder 14.5"
Neck to hem 25.5"
Overall, a good original WAAF tunic that would display well. Ideal for any RAF/WAAF collection, display, or museum.
